In short
Blob Buddies has no accounts. The game itself does not collect personal data. It sends us anonymous statistics about the stages (how often each is played, how many tries it takes, how many players clear, skip or give up on it) so that we can make stuck spots fairer; nothing in them identifies you, and you can turn them off in SETTINGS. On Steam and on the web there are no ads. The phone apps (Android and iOS) show ads from Google AdMob to players who have not bought Blob Buddies Plus; Google's ad service collects some data for that, as described below.
What stays on your device
Your progress, best times and settings (keys, sound, the nickname you type), and whether you own Blob Buddies Plus, are stored only on your own device. Uninstalling the game removes them.
Anonymous gameplay statistics
When you finish playing a stage on your own device (solo or local co-op) - you clear it, skip it or leave it - the game notes which stage it was, whether you played solo or with how many players, how many tries it took, whether it was cleared (and in how many seconds), skipped or left, the day (the date only, never the time), the platform (Steam, Android, iOS or the web) and the game's build number. These notes are sent now and then to our game server, which only adds them up into counts per stage.
They contain nothing that identifies you: no name or nickname, no account, no device or advertising identifier, no location. The server does not store your IP address (it only uses it for a few minutes in memory to limit how often a device may send), does not link one note to another, and keeps only the totals. For online games the server counts the stages a team clears (the stage, the team's size, the tries and the time) - never who played.
You can turn this off at any time: SETTINGS → SHARE ANONYMOUS STATS → OFF. Nothing is sent after that, and notes not sent yet are deleted from your device.
Ads in the phone apps
In the Android and iOS apps, players without Blob Buddies Plus sometimes see a full-screen ad when they finish a group of stages (never during play, never online), and a player stuck on a stage may choose to watch a short ad to skip it. The ads come from Google AdMob. To show them, Google's ad software in the app may collect your device's advertising identifier (on an iPhone only if you allow tracking), information about your device and the app, your IP address (from which a rough location can be worked out), how you interact with the ads, and diagnostic data. Google uses this under its own privacy policy: how Google uses information from apps that use its services and Google's privacy policy.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent with Google's consent form before personalised ads are shown; you can change your choice at any time under SETTINGS → AD PRIVACY. On an iPhone the app asks whether it may track you (Apple's prompt); if you say no, you only get non-personalised ads. Buying Blob Buddies Plus turns the ads off completely.
Purchases
Blob Buddies Plus (no ads and hosting online rooms) is a one-time purchase made through Google Play or the App Store, which handle the payment under their own privacy policies. We never see your payment details: the game only receives the store's confirmation that Plus is yours and remembers that on your device, so that it can be restored on a new phone.
Online co-op
When you play online, the nickname you type and your game inputs (which buttons you press) are sent to our game server, so that everyone in your room plays the same game. The server passes them on in real time and does not keep them after the session. Room passwords are checked by the server and never shown to anyone.
The leaderboard
When a team clears a stage online, the server keeps the team's nicknames, its time and its number of tries for the public leaderboard, which every player can see in the game. No e-mail address, no account and no device identifier is stored with it. Choose a nickname you are happy for other players to see.
Children
The game itself collects no personal information from anyone, children included (the anonymous statistics identify no one). The only thing another player can see is the nickname typed for online play. In the phone apps, Google's ad software described above works for every player without Plus.
Third parties
The game contains no third-party analytics: the anonymous statistics above go only to our own server and are never sold or shared. The only third-party code is Google AdMob in the phone apps (see "Ads in the phone apps"). The app stores (Google Play, the App Store, Steam) handle downloads and purchases under their own privacy policies.
